On October 23, 2025, the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) brought together tourism professionals, innovators, and community leaders at the KF Centre for Excellence for its annual AGM & Summit — a day devoted to collaboration, connection, and shaping the future of tourism in British Columbia.

This year’s theme, “New Routes, Bold Futures: Navigating Tourism’s Transformation,” set the stage for forward-thinking conversations on how transportation, sustainability, and innovation are redefining travel and tourism across the Thompson Okanagan and beyond.

As a venue rooted in aviation and sustainability, the KF Centre for Excellence provided a unique setting for these discussions. Built with energy-smart systems and sustainable BC lumber, the Centre embodies how innovation in design can reduce environmental impact while inspiring education and discovery.

Throughout the day, delegates explored how the tourism sector is adapting to global sustainability goals — from fuel-efficient aircraft and carbon-offsetting initiatives to greener infrastructure and visitor education. The conversation emphasized that aviation and sustainability can coexist when collaboration, innovation, and responsible action lead the way.

Panels and keynote sessions also explored regional priorities such as community regeneration, workforce readiness, and strengthening partnerships across tourism, transportation, and technology sectors. Networking sessions offered a platform for local operators, Indigenous tourism leaders, and sustainability advocates to share insights on creating a more resilient and inclusive visitor economy.

“We were honoured to host the 2025 TOTA Summit and to see such meaningful dialogue around the intersection of tourism, aviation, and sustainability,” said Chris Lapointe, Executive Director of the KF Centre for Excellence.
“Our goal as a venue is to inspire innovation while demonstrating that responsible design and operations can reduce impact and create positive change — not only for our industry, but for the planet.”

As proud hosts, the KF Centre for Excellence extends gratitude to TOTA and all attendees for an inspiring day of dialogue and discovery — one that reinforces our shared commitment to advancing sustainable tourism and aviation innovation across the Thompson Okanagan.

Together, we continue to chart bold new routes toward a future where tourism, community, and environmental stewardship soar in harmony.
