Take the pilot’s seat and explore the Okanagan from above
Flight Simulator Experience
If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to fly a plane, the Flight Simulator Experience at the KF Centre for Excellence gives you the chance to try it for yourself. You’ll step into a simulated light aircraft cockpit similar to what many trainee pilots use, complete with full flight controls and panoramic visuals of the Okanagan.
It’s fun, hands-on, beginner-friendly, and one of the most memorable parts of visiting the Centre.
What You’ll Experience
Our simulator puts you at the controls of a single-engine Cessna aircraft, the kind used for real pilot training across Canada. With a familiar layout of yoke, throttle, pedals, and instruments, it gives you an authentic introduction on how to fly, without needing any experience.
You’ll take off from YLW, fly over the valley, make turns, adjust altitude, and try your hand at take-off and landing. It’s as close as you can get to flying a real aircraft, all in a safe and welcoming environment.
Audience
The Flight Simulator is a great experience for visitors, families, aviation enthusiasts, and anyone curious about flying. It’s also a fun first step for youth interested in aviation.
Recommended for ages 10+, with younger children welcome to participate with support.

- Aviation-themed learning opportunities for youth
We want young people to see themselves in aviation, and this experience is one of the first steps in making that happen.
