The KF Centre for Excellence is preparing to welcome the 7th annual Canadian Wildfire Conference on October 28–29, bringing together wildfire response professionals, aviation operators, government agencies and industry suppliers from across Canada.
Organized by Annex Business Media, the two-day conference connects the people and organizations working on the ground and in the air to protect communities from wildfires.
Connecting the People, Technology and Expertise Behind Wildfire Response
This year’s conference features an educational program, industry presentations, panel discussions and an exhibition showcasing technologies and services supporting wildfire operations. Attendees will also have an opportunity to view static displays of aircraft and ground equipment.
Among the featured presentations, the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre will discuss its Pan-Canadian Aerial Assets program, an initiative to strengthen aerial firefighting capacity across the country.
Other sessions will explore coordinated emergency response, evacuation management and emerging technologies. UBC Okanagan researcher Mathieu Bourbonnais will share insights into remote sensing and prescribed fire as tools for building wildfire resilience.
A Meaningful Gathering for the Okanagan
For communities throughout the Okanagan, the challenges of wildfire response are especially relevant.
Aviation plays an essential role in wildfire suppression, from transporting personnel and equipment to aerial surveillance and water and retardant delivery. Bringing air and ground professionals together creates opportunities to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships and explore improvements in wildfire response.
The KF Centre is proud to once again provide a gathering place for these important industry conversations, welcoming professionals whose work supports the safety and resilience of communities across Canada.
