The KF Centre for Excellence is proud to welcome Ace Academy: Flight Experience, an immersive travelling exhibition produced by the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in partnership with Ingenium – Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation.
This immersive installation transforms flight into a full-body experience. Instead of using a joystick or traditional flight controls, visitors pilot a historic Sopwith Camel biplane using movement. By raising or lowering their arms and tilting their body, participants steer their aircraft through a First World War aerial mission — dodging enemy planes and lining up their target in the skies.
The experience blends authentic aircraft imagery with cutting-edge digital technology, offering an engaging way for youth, families, and aviation enthusiasts to explore the thrill of flight.
Best of all, Ace Academy: Flight Experience is included with general admission to the Centre.
“Much like aviation technology affected the development of this field over a century ago, today’s digital technology is affecting the way museums engage with their audience,” said Christina Tessier, President and CEO of Ingenium, Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation. “We are taking a number of strategic steps at our museums to broaden our national and international reach by leveraging exciting new technologies, and expanding their use to include travelling exhibitions.”
“Just as innovation in aviation reshaped how the world connected more than a century ago, today’s digital technologies are transforming how we inspire and educate the next generation,” said Chris Lapointe, Executive Director of the KF Centre for Excellence. “Ace Academy allows visitors to move beyond observation and step directly into the experience of flight. We are proud to host this national travelling exhibition and to provide our community with an immersive, hands-on opportunity to discover the wonder of aviation.”
The travelling exhibition is part of Ingenium’s national initiative to bring interactive science and aviation experiences to communities across Canada.
Whether you’re visiting with family, exploring aviation history, or looking for something new to try in Kelowna, Ace Academy offers a fun and unique way to discover the wonder of aviation.
Ace Academy: Flight Experience will be available at the KF Centre for Excellence for a limited time until the end of summer, and is included with Centre admission.
Big thanks to our friends at the Southern Interior Flight Centre and Okanagan Aviators Club for testing out the exhibit with us.
