The future of engineering took center stage at the KF Centre for Excellence, on Wednesday, April 9, as we proudly hosted UBC Okanagan’s annual Engineering Capstone Project Showcase & Competition for the third consecutive year.

This incredible event brings together final-year engineering students as they presented innovative, real-world solutions to industry challenges. With projects spanning advanced manufacturing, mechanical design, and cutting-edge aerospace concepts, these future engineers are turning ideas into action – and we were thrilled to be the venue to host their talents.

A special congratulations goes out to this year’s winning team in the Energy Systems category, who impressed the judges with their Novel Regenerative Heat Exchanger Project. Their innovation is a shining example of the creative thinking and technical excellence that is shaping the future of engineering.

Murray Forbes, who previously worked in aviation modifying and repairing fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters and recently earned his engineering degree at 80 years young, shared an inspiring message to the students: “Be excited for what the journey is. Set out and make the most of your life.”

Hosting this showcase aligns with our mission to inspire future generations, foster educational partnerships, and build stronger connections between industry and academia. We’re proud to continue supporting UBCO’s Engineering Capstone Project and look forward to welcoming students back to the Centre for years to come!
