The Chipmunk was de Havilland Canada’s first post war aircraft. It first flew in 1946. The Chippy is here with it’s little-big brother, the DHC-2 Beaver!

The Chipmunk is an aerobatic trainer aircraft that was built by Canada, the UK and Portugal. The aircraft is so capable it is still in service today with the Portuguese Air force. It was retired by the Royal Air Force in 1996, Royal Canadian Air Force in 1972, and by Belgium Air Component in 1955.

Of the 1283 Chipmunks built between 1946 and 1958, hundreds remain airworthy today! Our Chippy is serial number C1-0887 and was built under license in the United Kingdom in 1953. It has flown 7182 hours it it’s lifetime!
