Art for Impact is one of those evenings – a gathering that pairs creativity and generosity with real local impact. \nSupporting Kelowna’s Gospel Mission\nKelowna’s Gospel Mission is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting neighbours facing homelessness and hardship in Kelowna. Through services including emergency shelter\, meals\, outreach support\, connections to recovery programs\, casework\, and a Community Dental Clinic\, the organization provides compassionate care and practical support for those working toward stability and healing. \nTheir mission is simple and powerful: “To feed the hungry\, shelter the homeless\, and help the hurting.” \nTurning Inspiration into Impact\nArt for Impact transforms one inspiring evening into meaningful change. DESCRIPTION:The Convair Café and KF Centre for Excellence aviation exhibit launch Summer Saturdays\, featuring a free kid’s meal and passport activity for participating families. \nJune 2\, 2025 –KELOWNA – Make sure your summer bucket list includes savouring the incredible aviation legacy the Okanagan has to offer. Starting June 7\, the Convair Café and KF Centre for Excellence are joining forces to bring you Summers Saturdays—an aviation themed café experience for the whole family\, paired with a journey through the KF Centre’s award-winning interactive exhibit. \nLocated along the Okanagan Rail Trail just north of the Kelowna International Airport\, the Convair Café is a one-of-a-kind aviation themed coffee shop. Guests can sit back and relax in real aircraft seats\, immersed in an airplane cabin design. With hand-crafted seasonal beverages\, house-made pastries and gourmet lunch fare\, the café appeals to all appetites and modes of transport\, offering an exciting spot to rest and refuel. \nAs part of the Summer Saturdays promotion\, children ages 10 and under can receive a free kid’s meal at the Convair Café (with a $10 minimum adult purchase). The meal includes a grilled cheese sandwich\, apple juice and paper airplane along with a special passport activity to help kids spread their wings. The passport invites them to complete their journey at the KF Centre for Excellence aviation exhibit\, where they will receive a free cookie upon entry and a stamp for their passport! \n“During the week we serve a variety of customers including Rail Trail users and local staff working in the airport community. By extending our opening hours to Saturdays and adding some new menu features\, we’re introducing a budget-friendly option for families that will treat little ones to a first-class experience\,” says Amber Estlin\, Convair Café Manager. \nFamilies visiting the KF Centre for Excellence can explore vintage aircraft\, hands-on exhibits\, and inspiring stories from the Okanagan’s past designed to engage visitors of all ages. “This partnership with the Convair Café is a great opportunity to welcome families to the Centre in a relaxed\, engaging way”\, says Chris Lapointe\, Executive Director of the Centre for Excellence. “We invite visitors to enjoy some of the Convair Cafe’s delicious cookies on the Centre’s patio and experience the excitement of aviation with family and friends.” \nThe Convair Café is open Saturdays from 9:00am to 3:00 pm and weekdays 7:30am – 4:00pm. SUMMARY:Legendary Speaker Series
DESCRIPTION:Cold War Reflections\, Colonel (Ret’d) Phil Engstad M.S.M. CD \nColonel Engstad grew up in Burns Lake BC and later moved to Nelson BC. After graduating\, he joined the RCAF in Centralia\, Ontario in 1961. He received his Wings in the summer of 1964. Over the years\, he was involved in a variety of training programs and postings. From training on the F86 Sabre to flying the CF104 Starfighters in Marville\, France and Lahr\, West Germany. Col Engstad also served with the U.S.Air Force\, instructing and flying the F4 Phantom as well as the CF5 Freedom Fighter aircraft. Col. Engstad served as a founding member of 419 Tactical Squadron. \nCol. Engstad was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1981 and Colonel in 1986. He received the Meritorious Service medal from the Governor General in 1992. During his military career\, Col. Engstad flew all of Canada’s front line fighter aircraft and logged over 5\,000 hours. He is also 1 of 5 Canadian fighter pilots known as a “Topgun”.
